Patent Engineer (Biotechnology)

About the Role

Primogene is looking for a Patent Engineer to strengthen our intellectual property activities in biotechnology and life sciences. In this role, you will work closely with our R&D and business development team.

Key responsibilities

• Prior art search and patentability analysis.
• FTO analysis and deep technical analysis.
• Continuous monitoring of the patent landscape in relevant areas.
• Market trend analysis based on patent activity of relevant players.
• Support in patent draft preparation together with external attorneys, and in the prosecution process.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities through patent analysis.

Qualifications

You should bring..

• Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in biotechnology, chemistry, life sciences, or related field.
• Ideally work experience in IP-related areas in the biotech, pharma, or life sciences sector.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and high level of curiosity.
• Experience in working with patent databases and search tools (e.g., Espacenet, WIPO, or USPTO).
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
